Our Presidency works in the organizational structure of the institution depending on the General Secretariat Authority. Balıkesir University Department of Information Processing (BAÜN BIDB) started its activities in 1995. Department of Information Processing, on the first floor of the Rectorate Headquarters building, our presidency provides services to all units connected to our University using a physical area of approximately 500 m2. BAÜN BIDB strives to provide modern services to all staff and students by using the latest information technologies, and provides e-mail, web, server, software, technical service and office services to university students and staff and all departments.
While there were 6300 Internet users on the campuses of our university in 2013, this number has become 42 927 with the new network project. With the renewed metro ethernet infrastructure, all staff and students have gained a more reliable and healthy internet. In addition, wireless internet access, which is partially provided with the new network project, has also been provided to all faculties and colleges. Software development, web hosting, web design, e-mail, radius, library digital resources access applications, live broadcasting, etc. at the Department of Information Processing. studies are carried out in such areas. These applications are carried out with 39 servers in our Information Processing Department. In addition, technical support is provided for University Information System (UBS), Student Information System (OBS), Electronic Document System (EBYS) projects. some studies conducted in 2014 applied to ULAKNET to increase our internet speed, and as a result, our internet bandwidth was increased from 150 Mbps to 250 Mbps. according to Jul 5651, we are obliged to keep the incoming and outgoing traffic at a single point, to store the traffic information, the accuracy, integrity of this information and the file integrity values (hash) of the data generated together with the time stamp and to ensure its confidentiality. Accordingly, the log server and software that allows us to manage all these businesses from a single point have been purchased and put into operation. Attack all university traffic, malware, etc. firewall devices and software have been purchased and commissioned to protect against risks. Rules (policy) have been created in accordance with our university, we aim to keep our network away from unnecessary traffic and malware attacks. The network project has been implemented. Accordingly; - (Active, passive devices have been renewed, fiber and copper wiring have been made. - T of all staff and students.C An IDENTITY project has been carried out that allows them to connect to the university network (wired or wireless) with their identity number and passwords. - The necessary software has been written for the IDENTITY project. - The number of Access point devices has been increased in all locations for staff and students to use wireless internet. The IMC device and software, which allows the entire network structure to be managed from a single point, have been purchased and put into operation. The proxy server providing remote access to the library's electronic resources has been renewed, and every person who can be associated with the Identity project and connected to the network has also been provided with remote access to the library's electronic resources from outside the university. The uninterruptible power supply (UPS) in the system room has been renewed. In this way, the servers and devices located in the system room are protected against power outages and instantaneous voltage changes. The servers and storage required for the Electronic Document Management System (EBYS) have been purchased and made ready for use (Operating system, antivirus, etc. the software is installed). For data collection operations such as user and unit lists required for the software, we have worked together with the Editorial Office Department. In addition, the necessary support has been provided to the users during the transition to the use of the software. System installation for KOHA software has been provided, collection catalog data transfer, user registration transfer, Library Documentation Department Head completed. It has been tested together with. it has also been put into operation as of 19.01.2015. The specification has been written for the E-Campus Application (AKS-Smart Card), on the other hand, card designs have been made, and the data of all staff and students have been taken from all units. The DSpace software for the Corporate Archive Project was established for the Library Department and transferred for its operation. Work is underway for the IP Phone project.
